Should I Get My Eyes Checked When My Head Hurts?

Many factors contribute to headaches, including being too stressed, worrying too much or coming down with a cold. While painkillers might help temporarily, eye fatigue can be the cause of your headache.

How The Eye Affects The Brain:

Intense eye muscle spasm can lead to ocular hypertension and induce stress in the brain, leading to eye fatigue symptoms such as headaches, blurry visions and eye strain. If you don't treat them in time, they could damage your eyesight in the long run.

Beware Of Chronic Glaucoma:

If your head hurts and you find yourself having symptoms such as avoiding the light, eye strain and blurry vision, it is a signal that something isn't quite right with your eyes.

Spending too much time in front of the screen can cause fatigue and might lead to chronic glaucoma over time. Chronic glaucoma causes swelling pain around the eyes, and nausea and vomiting when the condition gets worse. Do not overlook the pain!

Nutrients for Optimizing Eye Health:

To optimise eye health, we should avoid using digital gadgets for too long and make sure our eyes get enough rest. Intake of nutrients such as Vitamin E, DHA and Lutein into your daily diet can preserve eyesight.

Even if your work requires you to sit in front of the screen for long hours, try to take short breaks for your eyes to rest.

You might even find yourself having fewer headaches when your eyes are healthy.
